What is Biohacking and why is it so important?

Biohacking is a broad term that covers many different topics of interest. From counting your daily steps to achieving immortality. The latter a wonderful pun on the silicon valley unicorns striving to add to their mythological status.

In short, biohacking is the process and procedures that leverage new digital technology to track and modify and boost cognitive and physical conditions. Biohacking can be traced back decades to concepts of transhumanism. According to Wikipedia, " Transhumanist's strongly believe that humans should continue to develop technologies that can enhance intellect and physiology. Perhaps as importantly biohackers are driven to create, explore and innovate.

They are inspired by curiosity to explore and experience new modes of existence. They are the leading edge. And yes leading-edge means ethical concerns - from already accepted concepts of health and wellness to more fringe concepts of transfusion and gene modification. On top of which the profiles of biohackers can range from the formal research PhDs to the informal self-taught tinkerers who are now equally supported by the ability to collect empirical data - making biohacking is a unique twist on behavioral, biotechnology and traditional medicine sciences.

The world is rapidly changing. If you're interested in reading more about biohacking check out our other blogs.
